Owner, Trainer Tony Ray mourned

Lexington, Kentucky - Tony Ray, professional horseman and owner of Stone Ridge Stables passed away March 12, 2008 at the age of 37.

Son of Hall of Fame trainer Junior Ray, Tony will be most remembered in the show ring for his success with the Three-Year-Old Fine Harness Mare World’s Champion Steel In Love, but outside the ring, he was even more unforgettable.

“He really was a one-of-a-kind-man. He had a smile you could see from miles away,” said his fiancée, Laura Fulton.

Services are being held this morning, Monday, March 17. There will be a visitation from 9-11AM followed by a funeral mass and home going service at St. Paul’s Missionary Baptist Church, 1404 Briggs Street, Joliet, Ill.

Following that will be a luncheon at 2 PM at Dick and Jeanette Durant’s Bell View Acres, 13278 Bell Road, Homer Glen, Ill 60491.

Friends of the family have asked that contributions toward funeral expenses be directed to Jeanette Durant on behalf of Junior and Louise Ray, Tony's parents.
